FAQ

•Do I have to be Asian to join?

–No!! We are a sorority who promotes cultural awareness and are one of the most culturally diverse group of sisters on campus. We do not discriminate based on race, sexual orientation, religion, or age and we are an all inclusive sorority.

•What is expected of a new member?

–Friday night socials 1-2 times a month

–Service events once a month

–Sisterhood outings on weekdays or weekends

–Monday meeting every Monday night

–New members should be proud to promote the cultural awareness, empowerment of women, and loving sisterhood that Rho Delta Chi condones

–No hazing of any kind is tolerated and members are free to leave if they feel the sorority is not right for them

•What is the difference between Rho Delta Chi and a Panhellenic sorority rush?

–Although we are on campus, we are an Asian Interest sorority in which rush is held differently than the 3 national sororities held on campus. Our rush gives rushees the chance to get to know what Rho is all about without any commitment or fees to rush and you do not have to rush each Asian sorority if you choose to rush with us. All events are free with rides provided without any commitment to join. This is a time to have fun, meet other people, and get to know the sisters.

•Why join Rho Delta Chi over a Panhellenic sorority?

–Smaller numbers mean that you get to know your sisters on a closer and more personal level

–Monetary dues are significantly smaller than a Panhellenic sorority

–Get away from the mainstream Greek life with a more personal and intimate kind of sisterhood where you are connected to girls from other chapters as well as get to meet people outside of just SFSU

Scholastics

Academics are our number one priority, and they should be yours too! Rhos understand that there can't be fun without a little hard work, and vice versa. Our sorority contains girls of every type of major, from business to nursing, and you'll always have a studdy buddy or someone as a role model to have around. Rho Delta Chi creates an environment of women who strive to achieve the ultimate academic success and we wear our letters proudly on our stoles at graduation.

Service

We donate our time to philanthropies that we care about, and we have fun while doing it! With a strong focus on Asian- American community services, we love to serve the community around us because we believe that together we can change the world. Some of the services we have participated in have been Muscular Distrophy Association, Alzheimers Walk, Nike Women's Marathon, Chinatown Run, and volunteering at Cherry Blossom Festival.

Social

Our chapters have made a very large impact in Greek life. From Southern to Northern California, Rhos are known for being fun-loving girls who enjoy meeting and mixing with new people. From having socials in southern california and santa cruz or having 5 way - exchanges with fraternities and sororities, we make a name for ourself all over the bay area and beyond. Joining Rho gives you the opportunity to meet people on and off campus, and we socialize with frats at schools not only at SFSU but also at UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, SJSU, Stanford, Sacramento State, and University of the Pacific. We like to have a good time and relieve the stress that school can load onto us. Socials are good for networking and meeting people; good interactions can benefit you in the future and in your academic life or career!

Sisterhood

There are many wrong reasons to join a sisterhood: for example, for the parties, and for the need to fit in. Rho Delta Chi encourages you to join our sisterhood so you can feel a sense of belonging, make friends that will last a lifetime, have a family away from home, be surrounded by other strong young women who will inspire you and help you to achieve your goals, and so you will always have someone there for you when life throws you a curveball. Although many girls may look at a sorority as a way into the "parties," or people may associate sorority girls with stereotypes, rushing Rho Delta Chi will show you the kind of loving sisterhood we can offer to you. In the end, besides your family, you will want a group of amazing girls by your side at graduation; ones that you will laugh, cry, and grow up with. Ones who will be there to help you celebrate your new internship or to help pick you up after you've gotten your first bad grade on a test. Our sisters will accept you for who you are, and no matter where you are in life you know you can always have a second family away from home. Joining Rho Delta Chi can provide you with all of these things.
